PhD Programme Admission

The Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research was established as an “Institution of National Importance” through an Act of Parliament in 2012. AcSIR is an overarching institution encompassing 78 prestigious Research Institutes, which among others include: 38 Institutes of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), 28 Institutes of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 5 Institutes of Department of Science & Technology (DST). AcSIR is the largest academic institution for doctoral research in India, having awarded 958 Ph.D degrees in 2025 under STEM, with more than 7,000 students currently registered in its Ph.D programs. This Institute is recognized as a research centre for the Ph.D. program in Medical Research under the Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR). Ph.D. admissions are conducted twice a year, in two academic cycles. Interested candidates may apply online through the AcSIR Admission Portal.
